2024 is about to end in the next 30 days and Samsung is gearing up to reveal its next big thing ‘Galaxy S25 Ultra’. Already multiple leaks surfaced online revealing the key details of Galaxy S25 Ultra and what new upgrades it is getting. Let’s discuss 6 big things you need to know before the launch of the Galaxy S25 series.
Launch Date
Samsung is expected to host their next Unpacked event next year in January 2025. While Samsung is yet to announce the official date of the next Unpacked event, multiple sources are suggesting that Samsung might host the next unpacked event on January 22, 2025, in San Francisco, United States. At this event, Samsung is expected to unveil 4 new devices: Galaxy S25 (confirmed), Galaxy S25+ (confirmed), Galaxy S25 Ultra (confirmed), and Galaxy S25 Slim (rumored). While the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra are confirmed to be unveiled on this date as a part of their traditional launch system, Galaxy S25 Slim is in a rumored phase and yet to be confirmed by the official sources.
Refined Corners
It is no secret that Samsung Ultra phones are carrying the legacy of Galaxy Note smartphones. Samsung Note smartphones were known for their premium look and super sharp boxy design but after its discontinuation, Samsung again returned the signature boxy look on the Galaxy S22 Ultra. Since then every Galaxy Ultra smartphone has Note style boxy design. No doubt, the signature boxy design looks exceptional and premium but in reality, the sharp corners are not comfortable for the pockets. That is why Samsung is considering unveiling the Galaxy S25 Ultra with a little bit of rounded corners. Recently a real-life video of the Galaxy S25 Ultra surfaced on Reddit unveiling its refined rounded corners design similar to the Meizu 21 Pro. No doubt, the Galaxy S25 Ultra still features the boxy design like its predecessors but the refined rounded corners would make it more comfortable.

Bigger, Better, and Brighter Display
The Galaxy S25 Ultra is rumored to feature a bigger, better, and brighter display. According to multiple reports, Galaxy S25 Ultra would pack a 6.86 inches 120Hz Dynamic Amoled 2x display which is a 0.06-inch increase over its predecessor. I know the upgrade is not so huge and users wouldn’t notice any differences in real life. But Galaxy S25 Ultra is rumored to feature slimmer bezels, which means Samsung is eliminating some of the bezels and filling them with the extra 0.06 inches display area. So as a result, the overall body dimensions of the Galaxy S25 Ultra would be the same as its predecessor. Not only that, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is also rumored to feature a brighter display. According to some reports, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is rumored to have a peak brightness of 3000 nits. Last year the Galaxy S24 Ultra had 2600 nits peak brightness. In this way, Samsung would level the peak brightness of the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL.
Upgraded Ultrawide Camera
Camera is the highlight and talking point of Galaxy S models. In 2020, Samsung introduced a 108MP main camera, 5x optical periscope lens, and features like pixel binning, and 100x space zoom technology on the Galaxy S20 Ultra. After 3 years, Samsung introduced a 200MP main camera on the Galaxy S23 Ultra. So without a doubt, the camera is one of the prime showcases of Samsung Ultra smartphones. However, Samsung mainly focuses on improving main and telephoto cameras and isolates the Ultrawide camera completely. But thankfully this year Samsung is upgrading the pre-existing 12MP Ultrawide sensor with a new and improved 50MP sensor. Not only it would upgrade the quality of Ultrawide shots, but it would also upscale the details of macro shots taken with the Ultrawide camera. However, the other cameras will remain the same as last year.
Super Powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Chipset
New phone formula, New Year = New Phone = Latest SoC. No doubt, Samsung follows this formula and the upcoming Galaxy S25 devices will arrive with the latest-gen SoC. Previously some reports suggested the use of Exynos 2500 chipset on vanilla Galaxy S25 models. However, this is not true. Every Galaxy S25 model would arrive with the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. The Snapdragon 8 Elite is based on TSMC 3nm (N3E) fabrication process and it is one of the finest chipsets Qualcomm has ever made. Snapdragon 8 Elite not only destroys competitors like MediaTek, Exynos, or Tensor, but it also manages to surpass the Bionic A18 Pro chipset in overall multi-core performance. Not only performance, the Snapdragon 8 Elite is also super power efficient. Snapdragon 8 Elite is 45% more powerful and 40% more power efficient than Snapdragon 8Gen 3. So you can imagine how awesome the Galaxy S25 Ultra would perform in a real-life scenario.

Longer Battery Life
I know the Galaxy S25 Ultra would pack a 5000 mAh battery similar to its predecessor but it will provide better battery efficiency as compared to the Galaxy S24 Ultra. As we discussed, the Galaxy S25 Ultra would arrive with the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset which is super power efficient. According to Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 8 Elite provides 40% greater power efficiency than Snapdragon 8Gen 3. Also, the wifi 7 on the Snapdragon 8 Elite is AI-optimised. This means Snapdragon 8 Elite devices would be super power efficient and the Galaxy S25 Ultra would be no different.
So that was all the major upgrades and key details of Galaxy S25 Ultra. Right now the device is looking like a beast but we can’t say it with 100% surety. So we have to wait till the official launch.
